A Status Quo Survey of Students' Psychological Health in Normal College and Universities

Abstract

Objective :To investigate the mental health status of freshmen in Normal College X,and thus to give advice in respect of mental health education in colleges and universities.Methods: 2630 freshmen of Normal College X were subjected to SCL-90 by stratified cluster sampling.Results : The mental health status of Normal College students was found generally better than that of other college students in the country,but worse than the national norm set for Chinese youth.Mental health status of female students was worse than that of male students.The level of psychological health of science students was found worse than that of liberal arts students.In future,the mental health problems of freshmen,female and science students in particular,should be given extra attention and the comprehensive measures should be taken to improve their psychological health.
