Simulation and Experiment of Dynamic Characteristics for Air Circuit Breaker Operation Mechanism Under Electro-Dynamic Force

Abstract

The arc movement of breaking process was analyzed and multi-type arc models were established depending on contact opening distance. Based on the finite element method,the electro-dynamic forces on moving contacts of different models were calculated. The calculated minimum and maximum data were loaded into ADAMS simulation model under no-load conditions,so the simulation model of dynamic characteristics of DW45 air circuit breaker( ACB) was established under short circuit conditions. Afterwards,the slowest and the fastest interrupting processes of ACB were achieved considering electro-dynamic force effect. On this basis,some experiments verified that the actual interrupting process is in the simulation range.
