Abstract
The economic and social development of our country is in a state of urban-rural dual structure which separates the relationship between urban and rural area, seriously hinders the balanced development of urban and rural areas. In view of this, many domestic scholars put forward the concept of urban and rural integration, and made a lot of researches on the concept, the theory, development mode and evaluation system of the urban and rural integration. But most researches are based on the eastern coastal developed areas, few studies on urban and rural integration of the western underdeveloped region. Based on the data of 13 regions in Xinjiang from 2002 to 2012, this paper using the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) from three aspects: the urban and rural development, balancing urban and rural areas, urban and rural areas as a whole constructing evaluation index system to find out the reasons. The results show that in recent years, the urban and rural integration process develops quickly, the progress of urban and rural development, urban and rural areas as a whole change greatly, balancing urban and rural areas have no too big change; Results also show that at the same time, the urban and rural integration develops unequally, differences mainly reflected in two aspects of balancing urban and rural areas and urban and rural as a whole, differences in urban and rural development is small.
