Abstract

Ethnic group is one of important subjets in contemporary social science resrarch.The paper discussed the history of development of the West,s ethnic group theory and ethnic groups research situation in China.It also analysed the necessarity and feasibility of application of the ethnic group theory to Chinese practice,some initiatory perspective were also been mentioned in accordance with the problem of current ethnic groups research in China.
