Study on Prefectures and Counties Relation of Han Dynasty

Because of the influences of the prefectures and counties'relationship during the Qin Dynasty and the period of Chu - Han War, and the need of defending against the dukes and princes in the east at the time , the counties kept strong power and great autonomy, while the prefectures did not govern the cunties in fact, the xiang - li communities were divided gradually, the problem of the dukes and princes was resolved, and the economic policies and official - selecting system of government changed. As a result, the power of the counties was weakened severely:the counties lost their independence and were controlled by the prefectures thoroughly.
