STUDY ON URBAN COMPETITIVE CAPACITIES OF JIANGSU PROVINCE

Competition between cities results from the market economy and raising city competitive capacity has been emphased by all kinds of cities. This paper, using 29 indications covering developing level, developing benefits, developing potentials, developing opening, developing controlling etc, first evaluates 13 central cities in Jiangsu Province. Using the statistical software of SPSS, the data is disposed and a model on urban competitiveness is established. It then analyses competitive capacities of all cities and classifies them into 4 types. Finally, several proposals in raising urban competitive capacities in Jiangsu province have been put forward in the end. The best competitions are Suzhou city, Nanjing City and Wuxi City;The better are Changzhou City, Nantong City, Zhenjiang City, Lianyungang City, Taizhou City. The worse are Xuzhou City, Yangzhou City, Yancheng City and Huaian City. The worst is Suqian City.
