Abstract

Objects To investigate the clinical effect and safety of superselective bronchial artery chemo-embolization with lipiod and gelfoam in treatment of lung cancer. Methods 21 patients with lung cancer were treated with superselective bronchial artery chemo-embolization with lipiodol and gelfoam.80mg CDDP and 10mg MMC were perfused and then a mixture of 30mg ADM and 5-10mg lipidol was perfused through catheter under fluoroscopy.Then,10 to 20 1 mm×1 mm gelfoam particles were sent into bronchial artery.Of the 21 cases,11 cases were adenocarcinoma,9 squamous cell carcinoma,1 small cell carcinoma. Results Lipiod was deposited well in lungs in all the patients.Of the 21cases,1 reached complete response(CR),17 partial response(PR),3 stable disease(S) and no patients progressed disease(P).The effective rate(CR+PR) was 85.7%.3 of hemoptysis were stopped immediately after embolization. There were no severe complications such as spinal damage. Conclusion It is effective and safe to treat lung cancer with superselective bronchial artery chemo-embolization with lipiodol and gelform.
