Abstract
China's children's literature in 1980s and 1990s witnessed great development and prosperity due to the joint forces of the following three factors: ① the inheritance of the traditional spirit advocated in children's literature during the May 4 Movement; ② the activation of writers' productivity as a result of the classification of children's literature into infancy literature, childhood literature and juvenile literature; ③ the promotion of the value of children's literature and the writers' humanistic responsibility by reconstructing human consciousness and moulding national characters of the future generations.
