A Discussion on the Contribution of Chen Yuan-guang to the Development of Quanzhou and Chaozhou

With the entering and their counterinsurgency activity in Fujian,Chen Zheng and Chen Yuanguang have made great contribution to the exploration and development of much area of Fujian and northeast of Guangdong.The discussion on this issue will have a better understanding about the formation and development of South Fujian cultural area.The counterinsurgency can be divided into two main stages: The first stage,the battlefield is mainly in south of Quanzhou(Fuzhou is the seat of local government at that time).After eight years' effort,they have preliminary stabilized the situation of Southern Fujian area and forced barbarians back to the region of Chaozhou and Yazhou.Having inherited his father's position,Chen Yuanguang got started in the second stage: his army of Tang Dynasty's battlefield mainly transferred to Chaozhou region in the following 30 years.After leading the people of the Central Plains got into Fujian,Chen Zheng and Chen Yuanguang have made great achievements on forming a wide area of peace environment and spreading advanced culture,promoting ethnic solidarity and accelerating economic and social development in the region of Quanzhou and Chaozhou.
