Clinical Observation on Curative Effect of Topiramate in Treating Epilepsy

Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical effects and adverse reaction of treating epilepsy with topiramate.Method:60 cases patients were divided randomly into intervention group (30 cases) and control group (30 cases),the intervention group was treated with topiramate,and the control group was treated with carbamazepine.During the treatment the onset of seizure and adverse reaction were recorded and compared the clinical efficacy of them.Result:The total effective rate and control rate in intervention group was 83.33% and 30.00% respectively,which was 66.67% and 16.67% in control group respectively.There was a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Main side effects in intervention group and control group were weight decrease,somnolence,nausea and speech disorder,but the side effects of control group(60.00%) were more than those of control intervention group(30.00%),there was a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusions:Topiramate has a good curative effect in treating epilepsy,minor side reaction and hence is worthy of being recommended in clinical practice.
