A Breeding Report of the New Maize Variety "Jinongda 402"

Abstract
Jinongda 402, a new maize variety, was bred through crosses between dan 988 (female) and YF1(male). The yield of Jinongda 402 was 10 167.2 kg/hm~2 and 10 309.8 kg/hm~2 and the rate of Jinongda 402 was 4.5% and 9.5% higher than those of checks, respectively in 2 years′ regional yield test and in 1 year′s production test. Jinongda 402 has been proved and released to the farmers by Jilin Evaluation Committee of Crop Variety in January 2004. This variety is of high yield and resistance to disease and good quality. It can be planted in late mature region and middle-late mature region of Jilin province. It is especially suitable to be planted in Changchun, Jilin, Tonghua and Songyuan areas.
