Analyses of 107 Missed Cases and Therapeutic Error of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

To study the cause and countermeasure of missed cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.The clinical material of 107 missed cases with nasopharyngeal carcinoma was analyzed retrospectively.The total missed rate was 20.7%. Twenty-seven cases were diagnosed as chronic lymphoditis;16 cases,as tympanitis;16 cases,as chronic nasitis;9 cases,as migraine;4 cases,as cervical lymphatic tuberculosis;6 cases,as chronic nasosinusitis;and 29 cases,as others.The missed rate was 61.7% at township and county hospitals and that was 38.3% at municipality and provincial hospitals;the missed rate was 56.1% in the non E.N.T.department and that was 43.9% in E.N.T.department.22.4% of the missed cases with neck mass were operated.[Conclusion]Interferred by complicated diseases and secondary diseases,misguided by auxiliary examinations and hidden nasopharyngeal carcinoma are main missed factors of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Enhancing the concept of nasopharyngeal carcinoma,spreading the examination of naso-fibrescope and CT scanning for nasopharynx can decrease the missed and escaped cases.
