Approaches to Translating Chinese Idioms into English

Abstract

This paper is intended to make a detailed analysis of Chinese idioms by examining the referential meaning and associative meaning of Chinese characters and then translating them into English,either into idioms or non-idioms.Besides,it strives to analyze and understand the Chinese idioms thoroughly and not rigidly adhere to the form of English idioms.Too much attention to the form of English idioms may lead to misinterpreting of Chinese idioms.
