Abstract
Geo - spatial cognition is a key issue in geographic information science. It includes two aspects: the location and the characteristics of geographic things. As an inter - discipline of geographic science and cognitive science, geo - spatial cognition focuses on commonsense geography especially. This paper is an overview of the latest research on the field of geo-spatial cognition. It introduces geo-spatial cognition based on the common cognitive process, i. e. .perception, geo-mental imagery, geo- conceptualization, mental representation of geographic knowledge and geo-spatial reasoning.
