Abstract
Metabolic syndrome is a clinical disorder characterized by the accumulation of multi-risk factors. The mechanisms underlying metabolic syndrome are not fully understood. However, insulin resistance, obesity, inflammation, and changes in metabolic factors such as pyruvate 11{beta}-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, uncoupling protein, all play roles in the pathogenesis of this syndrome. The therapy of MS is to improve cardiovascular risk factors based on improving IR. This paper makes a summary of the pathogenesis and treatment of metabolic syndrome.
