Abstract
On the basis of the distinctive geodynamic environment, gold deposits in China have been classified into eight types of rock gold deposit.According to the point of view that the tectonic unit and geological evolution control the regional distribution of gold deposits, the gold deposits of China have been devided into five metallogenic domains and thirty-seven metallogenic regions(belts).the tectionic environment and the corresponding gold deposit type in each metallogenic region(belt)have been summerized too.Taking the gold deposits as a historical indicators for geologic evolution,it has been deduced that there are seven metallogenic epochs of the formation time of China's gold deposits, and then the metallogenic intensity, main types and spatial distribution of gold deposits in each metallogenic epoch have been elucidated. The results of different quantitative predictions indicate that China has tremendous potential for unidentified gold resource, especially in the west area and in the deep of the east area. Finally,a briefly comment on the prospecting potential for each metallogenic region(belt)and the future exploration directions have been made.
