Abstract
The engineering design of the open channel of the general main canal for the Phase I of the Mid-route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project is briefly described herein,and then the causations of the problems occurred from the temporary water conveyance of the emergency water supply project of Bejing-Shijiazhuang section during the period of 2008 to 2009 are discussed and then the main experiences from the engineering design of the open canal are summarized as well.
