Breast MR imaging for the individual treatment of patient with breast cancer

It has been shown that MR imaging of the breast can fill many of the clinical information gaps that are inadequately evaluated by current conventional mammography and sonography due to MRI's inherently high soft-tissue contrast and no ionising radiation.The usefulness of breast MRI in the individual treatment of patient with breast cancer was discussed in the paper,including cancer staging,detecting the primary malignancy of patients presenting as axillary metastases,screening the contralateral breast for occult cancer for patients with a finding of cancer in one breast,and MRI-guided localization and biopsy procedures.
