Abstract

Objective: to observe the effect of anti-boneregeneration tablets on MMP-1,TIMP-1 and cartilaginous pathomorphism in rabbits with knee osteoarthritis,so to explore whether the tablets can protect the cartilage by regulating MMP-1 and TIMP-1 expression. Methods: 30 Japanese white rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups: control group(A),model group(B) and Tablet group(C).Model rabbits with knee osteoarthritis were made by introcavitary injection with 1.6% papain.4 weeks after administration to C group, pathological changes of cartilage,MMP-1 and TIMP-1 expressions were observed. Results: compared to group B,pathological damage to group C was lighter(P0.05),MMP-1 expression significantly lower(P0.01) and TIMP-1 higher(P0.05).Conclusion: anti-boneregeneration tablets can reduce the knee articular cartilage degeneration, and there is connection between its protective effect and its regulating MMP-1 and TIMP-1 expressions.
