Abstract
【Objectives】To observe the expression of MMP-1 and TIMP-1 of cartilage in rabbits with KOA, to explore whether there is relation between pathogenesy of OA and expression of MMP-1 and TIMP-1.【Methods】20 healthy male rabbits were randomly divided into two groups: normal control group, model group, made KOA models by injecting papain to the right knees of rabbits in group B, 4 weeks later, observe the changes of pathomorphology in cartilage and expression of MMP-1 and TIMP-1. 【Results】The degree of pathological lesion in group B was higher than group A (P 0.01),expression of MMP-1 was higher than gruoup A (P 0.01), expression of TIMP-1 was higher than gruoup A (P 0.05).【Conclusion】MMP-1 and TIMP-1 may be invovled in the pathogenesy of OA, they are very important in the degeneration of cartilage in OA.
