Analysis of cervical epidural block with stellate ganglion block for treatment of vertebral arterial insufficiency type of cervical spondylosis-report of 30 cases

Abstract

OBJECTIVE TO observe the effects of cervical epidural block with the stellate ganglion block (SGB) for treatment of vertebral arterial insufficiency type of cervical spondylosis. METHODS 30 cases of vertebral arterial insufficiency type of cervical spondylosis were treated by cervical epidural block every Monday and by SGB every Wednesday and Friday. RESULTS 10 cases (33 % ) were cured, 12 (40 % ) were excellent, 6 (20% ) were improved, and 2 (7% ) were failed. The positive rate in neck-revolved test had significant difference between pre- and post-treatment. CONCLUSION The cervical epidural block with SGB could effectively treat vertebral arterial insufficiency type of cervical spondylosis, but must be operated by the experienced doctors.
