Higher Education Massification and Organisational Change

Massification represents a major change in Chinese higher education in the early years of the 21st Century.There is still a long way to go for China to develop a mass higher education system,as the level of educational attainment of the population and the proportion of labour force with tertiary qualifications are both relatively low.Organisational change comes in tandem with the massification of higher education: it is both a prerequisite and an incentive for sustainable expansion.Through massification the Chinese higher education system has increased and widened educational opportunities,has met the increased educational needs of the general public,and has further stimulated the intrinsic pursuit of excellence in higher education.
