Analysis of the distribution features and drug resistance of 169 isolates of Enterobacter cloacae

Abstract

Objective To analyze the distribution of Enterobacter cloacae(E.cloacae) infection and drug sensitivity of E.cloacae isolates obtained from our hospital for guiding the rational use of antibiotics.Methods Retrospective analysis of the distribution of 169 E.cloacae isolates isolated from our hospital from June 2011 to April 2013 and drug resistance of these isolates was made.Results Totally 169 E.cloacae isolateds were obtained.The percentages of these isolates obtained from sputum and blood were 57.4% and 11.8%,respectively.The isolates distributed in many wards,and most of them were sensitive to carbapenems,cefepime,piperacillin / tazobactam,cefoperazone / sulbactam,and levofloxacin.Conclusion E.cloacae mainly causes respiratory and bloodstream infections in our hospial.It is multidrug resistant especially for the third generation cephalosporins.Carbapenems and antibiotics containing β-lactamase inhibitors remain to be the first choice to treat the severe infection caused by E.cloacae.
