Abstract

Ferricyanide, ferrocyanide, and bichromate anions pillared hydrotalcites were synthesized by in-situ synthesis method and by direct anion exchange method using Zn2Al-NO3 and Mg2Al-NO3 hydrotalcite as precursors, and were characterized by XRD and IR spectra.A comparison was made for the effects of the synthetic methods on the properties of the synthesized sample. Results show that the intercalated hydrotalcites can be synthesized by both methods, and the samples synthesized by in-situ synthesis method have higher crystallity and better layered structure.Result from DTA analysis shows that the thermal stabilities of intercalated hydrotalcites are mainly related to the compositions of pillared material and the interaction between the layers and pillars.
