Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical effect of dynamic regulation to fracture healing of the lower 1/3 of tibia after fixed by external fixator. Methods:From January 2007 to January 2009,100 hospitalized patients with lower 1/3 of tibia fracture were involved in the present study, all of these patients were treated with external fixators. There were 60 patients in the treatment group and 40 patients in the control group. After fixed 2 weeks, the treatment group changed through a mechanical direction, vertical tapping, static weight-bearing and other methods to increase pressure on the fracture stress, the external fixator were regulated regularly to ensure compressed tress for 16 to 24 weeks. While in the control group, the fixator were remained stable with no regulation to change the stress. Patients were observed the healing rate at the same time. Results:The follow-up time was 1 to 2 years. The wean time of fracture healing was 10.4 weeks in the treatment group and 11.6 weeks in the control group, there was a significant difference between the two groups ( P0.05). The healing rate was 91.67% in the treatment group and 57.5% in the control group, there was a significant difference between the two groups (P0.05). Conclusion:Regular dynamic fixation has significant effect for the bone fracture healing because it can decrease the creeping of stress, improve bone growth, speed up bone healing and decrease the probability of recurrence of fracture. It is worthy of clinical use.
