Abstract

Objective To study the expression of C-erbB-2, p53 protein in breast neoplasm and to analyse the relationship to estrogen and progesterone receptor of breast carcinoma. Method, One hundred and twenty cases of benign and maglignant breast carcinomas were examined for C-erbB-2, p53 by immunohistochemical S-P method, the same method as for ER, PR. Results The activity expression of p53 protein was 25.0% in breast benign neoplasm, 46.2% in breast carcinoma respectively (P 0.05). The positive expression in different histological types of breast carcinoma was compared statistically (P 0.05) . C-erbB-2 protein was not detected in benign neoplasm, and showed positive highly in breast cancer (69.2%), the higher the histological type was, the higher the positive expression of C-erbB-2 was, it related to the expression of ER, PR. Conclusion The expression of p53 protein was related to the histological type of breast carcinoma, but it is not used as a distinguishing indicator; the expression of C-erbB-2 oncogene protein was used not only for distinguishing benign and malignant tumors but also for diagnosing breast carcinoma, it could be regarded as as indicator to predict the prognosis of breast carcinoma.
