Abstract
Objective To investigate the morphological changes of retina after ischemia reperfusion in rabbits. Methods Retina ischemia was induced in rabbits by increasing intraocular pressure to 16.7kPa for 60 minutes and the histopathology and the thinckness of inner retina layer were examined during reperfusion followed by 2,7,14 days after retinal ischemia. Results Neuronals were gradually lost and inner retina layers became thinner and degenerative gradually, in which ganglion cell, nerve fiber, inner segment and out segment were more vulnerability to ischemic insult. Conclusion The injury of retinal ischemia reperfusion is a progressive, persistant and degenerative course .The changes of ultrastructure are earlier than that of structure.
