Abstract

A wholeprocess analysis method was proposed to research the impact damage process and residual tensile strength after impact of laminated composites. The 3D progressive damage theory was used in this method. The hypotheses about damage of laminated composites after impact were abolished. The real damage status of laminated composites after impact were used in analysis of residual tensile strength, which not only improve the prediction accuracy of ultimate strength but avoid a number of tests for obtained the impact damage parameters.A modeling program was developed to predict the impact damage process and residual tensile strength of laminated composites with any layer direction angle and layer thickness. The validity of the analysis method and program is proved by the comparison between the predicted result and experimental data available in the literature.
