Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of losartan on hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. Methods Thirty patients with essential hypertension(EH) with left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) were treated with oral losartan 50~100mg,once a day, with a total 16 week course of treatment. The heart structure was checked twice throngh color Doppler ultrasonic cardiography(UCG)to observe the effects of left ventricular remodeling and at the same time to monitor adverse drug reactions. Results EH and LVH showed fine results after the treatment. The blood pressure dropped and the total effective rate was 80%(P0.01).UCG indicated the left ventricular mass index(LVMI) decreased significantly after the treatment(P0.05).Conclusion The long-term use of losartan contributes to blood pressure decrease and reversed left ventricular hypertrophy. It is one of the advisable drugs for left ventricular remodeling.
