Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To study linical value of AngiotensinⅡ receptor antagonist (valsartan) in treatment of portal hypertension in patients with liver cirrhosis.METHODS:50 patients with liver cirrhosis associated with portal hypertension were randomly divided into two groups: valsartan and propranolol groups. Course of treatment was three months. Inner diameter of portal vein,inner diameter of splenic vein, blood flow rate of portal vein and blood flow rate of splenic vein were measured respectively before and after treatment. RESULTS:Before and after treatment, inner diameters of portal vein and splenic vein diminished and blood flow rates of portal vein and splenic vein increased in both groups ( P 0.05).There was no obvious difference between two groups in hemodynamics of portal vein after treatment ( P 0.05). CONCLUSION:Valsartan is an effective and safe drug for the treatment of portal hypertension in patients with liver cirrhosis.
