Effects of NaCl Stress on Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics of Cucumber

Abstract

This paper studied the effects of NaCl stress on the contents of chlorophyll,proline,MDA and soluble protein in cucumber seedlings under the conditions of different NaCl concentrations.The results indicated that the soluble protein content in the leaves of cucumber seedlings increased firstly and then slowly decreased along with the increasing of NaCl concentration,and it reached the maximum when NaCl concentration was 250 mmol/L.The contents of proline and MDA increased with the increasing of NaCl concentration,but the content of chlorophyll declined gradually.So the intensity of NaCl stress was the key factor affecting the growth of cucumber seedlings,and the contents of proline,MDA,soluble protein and chlorophyll could be used as the physiological indexes of identifying the salt tolerance of cucumber seedlings.
