The relationship between Survivin expression and biological behavior in gastric carcinoma

Abstract

Objective:To sdudy the relation between Survivin expression and the clinicopathologic characters of gastric carcinoma.Methods:Survivin were examined with immunohistochemical S-P method in 20 specimens of normal gastric mucosa and 80 specimens of gastric cacinoma.Results:All normal mucosas were negative for survivin.In the 80 gastric carcinomas,65%(52/80) was postive for survivin(P0.01).The expression of survivin was significantly related with histological differentiation and TNM stage(P0.01).Conclusion:Survivin was overexpressed in gastric cancer.Survivin expression is well associated with the clinicopathologic characters of gastric carcinoma.It may be valuable to evaluate the malignant degree of gastric carcinoma.
