Risk Sexual Behaviors among MSM in Wuhu and Surrounding Areas

Objective To identify sexual behaviors among MSM and provide evidence behavior intervention in Wuhu and surrounding areas.Methods A cross sectional survey was conducted among MSM using structured anonymous questionnaires administered by well trained MSM volunteers.Results Totally 360 MSM were interviewed and most were well educated.In the last 6 months,69.17% had anal intercourse with males,with the average number of male sex partners of 4 and use condom rate of 14.06%.In the last month,50% had anal intercourse with males with the average number of male sex partner of 2 and condom use rate of 26.67%.During the last intercourse,29.44% used condoms.The main reasons of never use condom were dislike using condoms and did not bring condoms.Commercial sex existed and the HIV infection rate was 6.35%.Conclusion Rrisk sexual behaviors were prevalent among MSM in Wuhu and surrounding areas,the condom use rate was low.The population had the potential of HIV/AIDS transmission and the prevention programs and behavioral intervention should be initiated.
