Abstract
The test on rhizome expanding outside Phyllostachys heterocycla cv.pubescens stand showed that the average diameter of rhizome increased with enhancing of tending measure.By deep plowing, weeding and loosening the soil, the length of rhizome was shorter but the number of rhizome joint increased. The total length of new rhizome by applying fertilizer to the base of bamboo was longest (7 75 m,1 4 m longer than that by deep plowing, weeding and loosening the soil). The total length of new rhizome by combinative measure was longer than that by single measure.Applying fertilizer to the base of bamboo was beneficial to the expanding for rhizome. The length of rhizome joint, the diameter of rhizome and the range for rhizome expanding tended to increase while the number of rhizome joint tended to decrease with reducing of the slope (rising of site). The conclusions provided reference to rhizome expanding and growing to full stand.
