The clinical study of plasma IL-18 level in patient with unstable angina pectoris

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the associateion of IL 18 with atherosclerosis and some risk factors of cardiovascular disease.Methods Plasma IL 18 level were measured by ELISA,and blood level of CRP,lipids,WBC were determined by relevant biochemical assay in 46 subjects.Results Plasma IL 18 concentrations increased in patients with coronary heart disease,mainly in patients with unstable angina pectoris( P 0.01)and correlated with CRP,LDL,CH.Conclusion IL 18 plays a major role of inflammation in atherosclerosis and the level of IL 18 may be one marker of acute coronary artery event.
