Abstract

【Objective】To clone a FT-like homolog in Gossypium barbadense L..【Method】A FT-like homolog was isolated from Gossypium barbadense L.cultivar through RT-PCR techniques, which was designated as GbFTL1.The character of GbFTL1 protein was analyzed by a series of bioinformatics software.【Result】A FT-like homolog named GbFTL1 was isolated from Gossypium barbadense L.cultivar of Xinhai 14.The open reading frame is 525 bp and encoded a putative protein of 174 amino acids which contains two critical residues and conserved motif, both of which were identified as diagnostics of true FT.Similarity comparison shows that the amino acid sequence of GbFTL1 shares 79.3%,99.4% identity with AtFT and GhFTL1,respectfully.GhFTL1 is Ser(S) in thirty-seventh amino acids, but GbFTL1 is Asn(N).Phylogenetic analysis at the amino acid level confirmed that the isolated sequence is FT-like.【Conclusion】GbFTL1 may be one of the candidate gene of promoting flowering in Gossypium barbadense L.
