Abstract
In this research work, an acryl copolymer emulsion was prepared by seed emulsion polymerization. The compositions of core copolymer and shell copolymer were m(MMA):m(BA)=76:24 and m(MMA):m(BA):m(AA)=46:51:3 respectively. The MFT of seed emulsion and core-shell emulsion were 66℃and 28℃ respectively and that indicated that the last polymer microsphere had the structure of solid-core/soft-shell. The diameters of the polymeric microsphere could be measured and observed clearly by SEM, the number of the seed microspheres was about the same as the last polymeric microspheres by calculating. It was confirmed that the polymerization of shell monomers only happened on the seed microspheres. This paper also discussed the influence factor to core-shell structure of polymeric microspheres.
