Water Resources Related Problems in Great West Development in China and Countermeasures

In consideration of some problems in development and utilization of water resources in west areas, such as deterioration of ecological environment, serious drought and water deficiency, incompleteness of water resources facilities, unbalanced development and utilization of water resources, lack of an effective management system, and waste of water, some suggestions are proposed, including implementation of water saving measures, strengthening of ecological environment construction, assistance to water resources deficient regions,rational development and protection of water resources, development of hydropower projects, and acceleration of South North Water Transfer.
