The Relation between Personality Characteristics and Mental Health of College Students

Abstract

The paper explores the relation between personality characteristics and mental health of 429 college students via Eysenck personality questionnaire and symptom check list-90.The result indicates that the positive rate of detection for obsessive-compulsive,interpersonal sensitivity,depression,hostility,paranoia and anxiety are high.Sophomores,juniors and seniors are evidently higher than freshmen in somatization,interpersonal sensitivity,anxiety,hostility,phobia and other four factors.Furthermore,euroticism and psychoticism of personality characteristic can predict the mental health of college students.
