Observation on the effect of tanshinone capsules combined with benzoyl peroxide gel in the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of tanshinone capsules combined with benzoyl peroxide gel in the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Methods Total 98 patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris were divided into three groups by a single-blind randomized controlled method. The patients in trial group were treated with oral tanshinone capsules combined with benzoyl peroxide gel externally applied, and the two control groups were given oral tanshinone capsules or benzoyl peroxide gel externally applied respectively. The effective rate was compared after eight weeks. Results The total effective rate of trial group and the other two control groups were 88.24%, 59.38% and 65.63% respectively, there were significant differences between the trial group and the controls. In compare with the controls, the trial group had fewer side effects. Conclusion The combination therapy of tanshinone capsules and benzoyl peroxide gel is effective.
