Efficacy Observation of Tanshinone Capsule Combined with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel in the Treatment of Acne Vulgaris

OBJECTIVE: To observe therapeutic efficacy of Tanshinone capsule combined with 5% Benzoyl peroxide gel in the treatment of acne vulgaris. METHODS: 84 patients with acne vulgaris were randomly divided into treatment group and control group according to the order of visiting. Treatment group was treated with Tanshinone capsules 4 pills each time, tid, and 5% Benzoyl peroxide gel for external use twice a day. Control group was treated with 5% Benzoyl peroxide gel for external use twice a day. The period of treatment was 6 weeks. RESULTS: The effective rates of treatment group and control group were 92.8% and 71.4%, respectively. There were significant difference between 2 groups (P0.01). The adverse reactions of 2 groups were mild, there was no statistical significance(P0.05). CONCLUSION: Tanshinone capsule combined with 5% Benzoyl peroxide gel is effective in the treatment of acne vulgaris without significant adverse drug reactions.
