Abstract

Effects of elastomer ethylene-1-octene copolymer (POE) content on micro-morphology, mechanical and rheological properties of polyamide 6(PA6)/ethylene-1-octene copolymer (POE) blends compatibilized by EAA were studied. SEM photographs of PA6/POE/EAA blends showed that increasing POE content produced coarser breakage surface; the Izod impact strength was enhanced, and both tensile strength and bend modulus declined with the increase of POE. Rheological test demonstrated that more POE led to a lower viscosity and therefore improved processing performance. However, when POE content rose to 20%, viscosity of the alloys didn't decline at the same non-Newtonian shear rate any more.
