The Development of "Garden City Theory" in Modern China

Abstract
In the Republic of China , Chinese municipal scholars actively introduced and publicized Ebenezer Howard's Garden City Theory. They considered that it was significant to build garden cities in China and advanced a series of program. Their urban planning ideas were obviously influenced by the Garden City Theory. However, they did not truly understand the soul of Howard's theory and neglected the actual social condition of China. Furthermore, their ideality of building garden cities could not be realized.
