Abstract

The Garden City Theory developed by Ebenezer Howard, a nineteenth century British social reformer, deals with city planning as well as social reformation. Concerning the city evils caused by the industrialization and urbanization in the 19 th century, this theory has its intellectual and social backgrounds. It is still of great value for the development of today's cities and society although it should be thought of as a kind of Utopia.
