Abstract
To analyze the effect of additional NaCl concentration in medium on mitotic behavior and micronucleus in plant root tip cells, plant root tip cells from Allium cepa,A.sativum, and Vicia faba were cultured for 72 h in medium with three different concentrations of NaCl(50 mmol/L,150 mmol/L and 250 mmol/L).The results showed that the additional NaCl concentrations in medium had significant influence on the mitotic index and metaphase chromosome morphology of the three plant root tip cells. The mitotic index decreased while micronuclear rates went up with the increase of NaCl concentration in medium.Lower concentration of NaCl had stimulative effect while higher concentration of NaCl had inhibitive effect on mitotic rate of the root tip cells.
