Liberalism and the Legitimacy of Opposition to Traditions During the May Fourth New Cultural Movement

Since the May Fourth New Culture Movement occurred,the academic and ideological circles have reacted drastically to its anti-tradition.Some have praised it,while others have criticized it.Such praise and criticism have never stopped.In recent years,again there have been discussions and polemics about the May Fourth Movement's opposition to traditions.In view of this situation,this paper makes a profound study of the history of the May Fourth Movement's opposition to traditions in order to correct misperceptions and clarify perplexing ideas in the academic and ideological circles.This will help us build up a modernized ideology and culture and create modern life values for our people.
