Detection of gastric emptying of gastroparesis syndrome in diabetic patients with 3D ultrasound

Objective To detect the changes of gastric emptying to assist the diagnosis and treatment of gastroparesis syndrome in type 2 diabetic patients with 3D ultrasound.Methods The index of gastric emptying of liquid after dinner was measured by 3D ultrasound in 30 cases of type 2 diabetics and 20 volunteers,followed by using computer model to calculate the changes of gastric volume and half gastric emptying time(T1/2),complete gastric emptying time(T) and the emptying curve.Results The half gastric emptying time and complete gastric emptying time in diabetic patients with gastroparesis syndrome were delayed significantly compare with volunteers';The gastric emptying time was postponed in 17 out of 30 cases of diabetics(56.67%).Conclusion It is an easy,simple,acceptable and repeatable method by using the ultrasound 3D to measure the gastric emptying in diabetic patients.
