Abstract
Objective To study the application of micro-implant anchorage(MIA)in tooth borned distraction osteogenesis(DO).Methods Twelve adult mongrel dogs were divided into A(tooth-borne,n=6)and B(tooth and MIA-borne,n=6)group respectively.Alveolar bone resection was made surgically at first. After 2 weeks, the tooth-bone complex transport disc was formed by osteotomy.MIA was implanted into the transport disc in group B.The gradual distraction started after 1 week latency. The dogs were killed at 1 month after completion of distraction. The samples were evaluated by clinical examination and histology observation. Results Both group A and B have the same effect, but the displacement and the negative effect to tooth apical and dental pulp of supporting teeth were more obvious in group A.Conclusion It shows that MIA may have beneficial effect on tooth in tooth-borned DO.
