Abstract

The excessive application of fertilizer and pesticide and its losses have exerted a great threat on the water environment. This paper introduces the Wetland-Reservoir-Subirrigation System(WRSIS),which is developed by Ohio State University and supplies a kind of water environment restoring technology, mainly based on hydraulic measures, for the control, reduction and solution of the problem of agricultural non-point source pollution.Considering the current status of irrigation and drainage systems in China, the WRSIS is re-designed and experimental studied in Guilin City of Guangxi Autonomous Region. The results show that the importation and re-design of WRSIS will be a practical and promising way to deal with the non-point source pollution in rice-based irrigation system.
