Abstract

Objective To study the effect of embolization therapy for the anterior circulation aneurysms. Methods Forty-five Hunt and Hess I-IV patients with the anterior circulation aneurysms were treated by variant endovascular methods, including simple coil embolization、ballon-assisted coil embolization technique,stent-assisted coil embolization technique. Results 35 patients were treated by simple coil embolization;7 patients were treated by ballon-assisted coil embolization technique; 3 patients were treated by stent-assisted coil embolization technique. Among patients,37 cases were completely occluded; 8 cases were subtotally occluded. No coil escaping from the aneurysms neck or other complications occurred; 25 patients were discharged with a GOS score of 5; 15 with a score of 4; and 5 had a score of 3. In the follow-up for 3 ~ 24 months after the embolization, recurrence was not found. Conclusion Embolization therapy for the anterior circulation aneurysms is reliable and safe, which can effectively reduce the disability and mortality of patients with aneurysm.
